Rose Lantz is overjoyed with her life. Her Amish family has a lovely farm in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, she has a good friend in Lydia Beiler who loves to quilt with her, her faith in God is strong and her Amish community warm and supportive, and she is engaged to be married to a handsome young man. But she came to the American Colonies when she was 10 and can still remember the persecution the Amish people fled in Germany. So when Lydia is accused of witchcraft by those outside the Amish community she is quick to help her friend's lawyer and speak up on behalf of Lydia during the trial. But her passionate defence of Lydia draws attention to her and soon it is Rose who is facing charges of being a witch. The charges sound so convincing that friends and family turn away from her. Even her fiancé breaks off his engagement. Soon Rose is on her own to face her accusers with no one to help but God. And one brave young man she had never paid any attention to before.
Murray Pura was born and raised in the Mennonite country of southern Manitoba. He began writing at an early age and his first story was published in a US Christian magazine when he was 16. Since that time Murray has published more than a dozen books and has been the recipient of a number of writing awards. His works include the Amish American novels A Bride's Flight From Virginia City, Montana; The Wings of Morning and The Face of Heaven. A pastor for 25 years, Murray currently lives and writes in southern Alberta.

When I heard Murray Pura was writing a kindle book in installments I couldn't have been more thrilled- I have loved every story he has written up to date!!! I sat down to read the first installment this morning of The Rose of Lancaster County and I couldnt put it down. Murray has a way of combining a story with history that will leave you breathless and waiting for more. This particular story dealt with two young ladies- Rose Lantz and Lydia Byler- they had come to the Pennsylvania Colony 10 years before and were still struggling to put aside the persecution they went through in Germany. Compelling story and history involved all in one story- a real attention getter!!! Now I can hardly wait for the next installment- Murray Pura just makes you want to keep on reading and reading and reading!!! Defintely a 5 star book in my opinion!!!!Product details

This is definitely a Murray Pura book! The writing is superb--just like I have become to expect from this author. The characters of Rose and Lydia are so real and feminine, that it put a smile on my face - excellent job, Murray!
I thoroughly enjoyed this first installment of ebooks of The Rose of Lancaster County. I'm eagerly awaiting the next!
I really enjoyed this book wished the story was a little longer. This book would be like for the one who liked a little mystery.
great story of romance, self independence, family values
Murray Pura is one of my favorite Amish Christian authors. This book is a delightful read, especially since I'm so fascinated with history. I love the fact that he explores the Amish when they first came over here to America. As always, his character development is top-notch and pulls you right into the story. Bravo, Murray.
Loved this story and must read the whole series to get the true meaning and what this woman had to go through alone with others to be able to live their Faith
The short series is a refreshing model for reading. We used to read series novels in publications and good magazines.
The story of Rose is in a unique, seldom visited time period in history. The characters are mostly Amish. Their lives are far from uncomplicated at the worlds swirls around the charming rose garden on land and quilt.
Treat yourself to a good read -- I don't want to tell you too much and spoil the story. Let it be enough to tell you that I've read every volume so far and eagerly await the next.
When I heard Murray Pura was writing a continuing short series, I knew it would be good. Murray's writing is rich in imagery, and the first scene, set in a rose garden, makes you see and smell the flowers. Characters are realistic as is the setting. Little has been written in a Amish fiction genre about their life in Colonial America, and being a history buff, I'm fascinated and look forward to reading the next in the series.
