This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

October Vagabonds Richard Le Gallienne Books

Such a beautiful work, and an excellent introduction to the writing of Richard Le Gallienne.

"October Vagabonds" is a relatively short novel, its beauty all the more concentrated for it. I'd not heard of Le Gallienne beforehand, and found his writing style both engaging and very accessible. His obvious love for the subject, a walking tour through New York State, communing with Nature, a love of simple people, is evident on every page.

Also bearing in mind the time in which the story took place (1908) and was published (1910), we have an almost contemporary report on then-rural parts of New York State that may be of interest to regional history buffs. Like "Travels with Charley" by John Steinbeck, Le Gallienne crafts a story of real places, real towns, real events, as his two Bohemian characters travel along.

This is a sensitive work, full of the romance of Nature, and almost poem-like in its approach. It's the kind of work that creates a special mood, and will leave you longing for more. And imagine, this copy was FREE! Formatting is good, with only the occasional typo, certainly nothing that would distract the reader from the text.

Fortunately, many of Richard Le Gallienne's other works are also available on Kindle (for free, no less!), and I plan on exploring his work further.

Great Transaction - would do business with again
What a neat book. I felt like I was traveling right along with these fellows and really enjoyed being part of their travels.
A beautiful rose hidden among dreary modern literature. A valuable philosophy lesson, life's richness is truly simple and universally available.
This was an enjoyable recounting of two naturalist artists who decide to hike back to New York rather than take the train. They did not want to return to soon to the noise and clutter of city life. A nice short excursion thru up state New York around the turn of the century. Maybe not for everyone.but if you like travel writing and observations of people whom they met on the way it is rewarding.
A lovely work of the day teaming and just really nice read AADeL
This was a short and sweet read. It takes you on a journey from Buffalo to NYC. The author describes the people he meets and the nature he observes. It is quite obvious from this book that the author is a poet at heart, and quite a few poems are mixed into his prose. It is not the best story I've ever read and there are no underlying plots just a simple documentation of one authors journey as he travels part way across the country. It's short and it's free. Definately worth downloading to join the author on his adventure for a few hours.
